A consortium consisting of Budimex SA (leader) and Victor Energy (partner) has signed a contract for the design and construction of traction substations on railway line No. 38 section 100. Ełk – Korsze. The value of the submitted offer is over PLN 233 million net and includes the scope of basic works and the conditional amount. Budimex’s share as the consortium leader in the basic scope amounts to PLN 161.9 million net.

As part of the contract, the general contractor will design and build m.in. 5 traction substations with a control and monitoring system. The total length of the 110 kV AC lines supplying the traction substations will be over 35 km. The contract implementation period is 32 months.

Budimex is intensively developing its activities in the area of railway and transmission power engineering. Our company not only invests in modern equipment, such as dual-system vehicles for the construction and modernization of the traction network, network trains, machines for the construction of transmission lines, but also owns and actively recruits specialists in this field. Many years of neglect in the area of modernization and construction of transmission lines, substations and railways have resulted in a huge demand for this type of work today. For us, this is one of the basic directions of development and diversification of our order portfolio – says Piotr Deredas, Director of the Railway Construction Region at Budimex SA.

We have a total of over 80 units of rolling stock and machinery. This is a scale that allows us to fully service contracts in Poland and abroad. We try to carry out all works using our own technical and human potential, which is certainly our advantage over the competition – says Dariusz Bac, Director of Railway Construction at Budimex SA.

These are not the only activities of Budimex on the energy market. At the beginning of this year. Polskie Sieci Energetyczne has selected Budimex’s bid as the most advantageous for the expansion and modernisation of the Piła Krzewina substation along with the switching of the 400 kV Piła Krzewina-Plewiska line track operating at 220 kV to 400 kV.

The largest general contractor in Poland is also developing its own network of electric car charging stations. The aim of Budimex Mobility, a company established for this purpose, is to create, build, service and operate a network of publicly available stations throughout the country. According to the company’s  strategy, 470 stations are planned to be launched by 2026.

Budimex also implements projects in the field of green energy. Established in April 2023, BXF Energia plans to take possession of 500 MW of capacity as part of wind and photovoltaic projects over the next 5 years.
