Budimex has completed the construction of the S6 expressway on the Luzino (without the junction) – Szemud (with the junction) section, and thus commissioned a 10 km long section of the Kashubian Route in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. In addition, as part of the contract, the general contractor completed 10 km of access roads, local roads and exits to serve the adjacent area. In December this year alone , Budimex commissioned nearly 45 kilometres of expressways throughout Poland.
The part of the S6 expressway connecting Słupsk with Gdańsk consists of three implementation sections with a total length of nearly 41 km: Boże Pole – Luzino, Luzino – Szemud and Szemud – Gdynia Wielki Kack. As part of the project, Budimex built the middle section, including m.in. a dual carriageway road with a length of over 10 km. In addition, 10 km of access and local streets and exits were built to serve the area adjacent to the Kashubian Route. Access to the S6 is provided by the Szemud junction built at the intersection with the provincial road DW 224.
As part of the project, 13 engineering structures were built – 2 bridges, 9 viaducts, a passage for small animals and 1 flyover – the largest on the entire 40-kilometre section, 30 metres high and 200 metres long, made in the overhang technology. The facility was built over the valley near the village of Milwino.
– The construction of the S6 route is an important change for road traffic in the entire Tri-City agglomeration, which will relieve the m.in. existing national road and main communication routes – says Contract Director, Piotr Sumiła. “The project was complicated due to its hilly terrain and wet ground, which required special ground reinforcement and hydrotechnical works ,” adds Sumiła.
About 300 employees and subcontractors worked on the construction of this section of the S6 every day. The gross value of the contract is PLN 335.8 million. Work on the investment in the “Design and Build” system began in mid-2018 and was completed at the beginning of 2022. The contracting authority is the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways in Gdańsk.
