Budimex – one of the leading construction companies in Poland – has signed an agreement with the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. This is the 25th university in Poland with which the company has signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement covers, among m.in, joint teaching activities, research programs, as well as internships and internships for students.

As part of the agreement signed on 31 July this year, the parties declared cooperation in such areas as the organization of student internships, participation in conferences and seminars, conducting didactic classes and awarding the authors of the best master’s and scientific and technical theses. It is also planned to jointly apply for research grants and commission university expertise by Budimex in the field of solving technological and implementation problems occurring during construction.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the university and Budimex SA, including, m.in, Prof. Rafał Wiśniowski, Vice-Rector for Cooperation, and Maciej Olek, Member of the Management Board of Budimex SA.

Budimex is a construction company with over fifty years of tradition in Poland, playing a significant role in the economic development of the country. For years, we have been investing not only in infrastructure, but also in the development of science and future engineers studying at domestic universities. Signing the agreement with AGH UST is an important step for us in building long-term relations between business and academia. We carry out many investments in Małopolska and we believe that the effective implementation of engineering projects – especially in such a dynamic industry as construction – requires close dialogue with technical universities. We believe that as a company operating and developing on the Polish market, we have a duty to invest in human capital, which creates the future of the modern economy. – says Maciej Olek, Member of the Management Board of Budimex SA.

This year alone, 18 AGH UST students have been admitted to Budimex as part of the Internship Programme. The university also participates in the competition for the best diploma theses organised by the company and has conducted training for Budimex staff. AGH UST students also actively acted as brand ambassadors, and one of the two selected participants of the Ambassador Programme was awarded as the best ambassador of this year’s edition of the programme.

AGH UST is not only a university educating future engineers, but also an important partner in developing the competences of our current staff. Only in the last two years, 15 of our employees have completed postgraduate studies in tunnel construction at this university – today the knowledge gained there really supports the implementation of the most demanding contracts. adds Marta Soboń, Director of the Recruitment and Employer Image Building Department, Budimex SA.

For many years, Budimex has been consistently developing relations with technical and economic universities throughout the country. As part of its own educational programmes – such as the Budimex Academy or the Ambassador Programme – the company is involved in educating future specialists, offering, m.in other things, paid internships, internships and substantive support. In July this year, Budimex signed an agreement with the University of Szczecin, covering joint research and development projects and the development of students’ competences. In total, more than 3 000 young people have already benefited from the opportunities offered by these initiatives.
