Budimex SA has signed a contract with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) Szczecin Branch for the construction of a section of the S10 expressway on the route from the Łowicz Wałecki junction to the Piecnik junction (without the junction). The contract value is PLN 437.4 million net, and the investment will be implemented in the “Design and Build” formula. This is the fifth section of the S10 entrusted to Budimex.
The new 14.9 km section is part of a larger project that includes the construction of the S10 expressway connecting Szczecin with Piła. In total, Budimex has signed a contract for the construction of five sections of the S10 expressway. The total value of the construction of the S10 sections built by Budimex SA is over PLN 2.3 billion net. The implementation of the S10 is the first step towards a significant improvement of communication in the West Pomerania region.
The S10 road, about 410 km long, will connect Szczecin with the Warsaw agglomeration, running through Piła, Bydgoszcz and Toruń. The new route will be a dual carriageway, with two lanes in each direction, which will significantly improve safety and comfort of travel. Thanks to the environmental decision issued in July 2023, the new road will bypass the towns through which the current DK10 runs, such as Suchań, Recz, Kalisz Pomorski and Mirosławiec. The S10 will create a direct connection between the regions of Western Pomerania, northern Wielkopolska, Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Mazovia, offering an alternative to the A2 motorway transport route from the centre of the country
to the northwest.
Earlier, Budimex SA signed 4 contracts for the construction of S10 sections:
– Section 2: Stargard Wschód junction – Suchań junction – 14 km. Value of the offer: PLN 366,166,760.93 net.
– Section 5: Cybowo Interchange – Łowicz Wałecki Interchange – 16 km. Value of the offer: PLN 492,089,901.00 net.
– Section 7: Piecnik – Wałcz Zachód – 16 km. Value of the offer: PLN 448,960,288.00 net.
– Section 8: Witankowo Interchange – Piła Północ Interchange – 13 km. Value of the offer: PLN 586,422,080.00 net.
Thus, section 6: Łowicz Wałecki Junction – Piecnik Junction, with a length of 14.9 km, is the fifth section of the S10 contracted by Budimex.

Budimex expects the works to be completed within 39 months from the date of conclusion of the contract, and the scope of the investment also includes the reconstruction of existing roads in terms of collision with the expressway, the construction of additional roadways, pedestrian and bicycle crossings and engineering structures. The scope of the investment also includes, among others, the design of the land drainage system, the plan to strengthen the soil and ensure the stability of the slopes around the road.
The contract for the construction of the S10 road section is a key step in the implementation of the Government Programme for the Construction of National Roads until 2030, which aims to create a modern and safe transport infrastructure in Poland. Taking into account all completed infrastructure projects, Budimex is one of the largest general contractors of roads and motorways in Poland. For over two decades, the company has been building several hundred kilometers of motorways, expressways, local roads and ring roads every year.
