The third edition of Hello ICE, Budimex’s proprietary programme, which teaches children the rules of road safety through play, has been launched. The aim of the project is to expand the knowledge of primary school and preschoolers about the behavior, m.in. when crossing a pedestrian crossing. The first day of educational activities took place in Ziębice with the participation of the local Cultural Center and representatives of the Police and the Voluntary Fire Service. The Hello ICE program has received the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism for 2023-2024.

Budimex, as a responsible general contractor, supports local communities and educates the youngest in the field of safety. This year, in connection with the construction of a sports and entertainment hall in Ziębice  (Lower Silesia Voivodeship), Budimex carried out the Hello ICE campaign addressed to local schools. A key element of the program are Safety Days, which promote appropriate behavior on the road among children and train first aid skills.

The first Safety Day of the third edition of the Hello ICE program took place at the beginning of February this year. Children from grades 1-3 of two local schools met with employees and animators of Budimex in the Ziębice Cultural Centre. The students had the opportunity to learn about the elementary rules of the road and how to move on a two-wheeler on the street.

‎- At Budimex, safe work is a priority, which is why we want to go a step further in this regard. As a socially responsible company, we support educational campaigns that also raise the subject of safety outside the construction site. This is expressed, among others, in the Hello ICE program – says Wojciech Lesisz, Director of Environmental Protection. Commercial Staff in Budimex.

An important change in the third edition of the Hello ICE program is the expansion of the scope of security issues. As the demand for micromobility solutions has grown, so has the number of risks, especially for children.

‎- The Hello ICE program is developing along with the needs and challenges that await the youngest, which is why from the beginning of 2023, in addition to road safety, we are also focusing on the topic of micromobility. This is Hello ICE’s new goal to educate the youngest on how to safely move around on rollerblades, scooters or bicycles – said Martyna Wróbel, Communication and PR Director, Budimex SA.

During the Safety Day in Ziębice, there were presentations by Budimex employees on safety at the construction site and training for representatives of the Police and the Voluntary Fire Service. The children also received reflective ICE (In  Case of Emergency) cards, with a space to enter the details of their parent or guardian, which may be helpful in the event of a missing child or an accident involving them. As part of the workshops, there was also joint face painting and animations.

Budimex’s Hello ICE meetings are organised in cooperation with schools from all over the country. The mascot of the program is a friendly tiger Budi, who travels all over Poland to teach and entertain the youngest.

The construction of the sports and entertainment hall in Ziębice is the largest and most anticipated investment in the municipality for many years. The project is to enable sports games in such disciplines as volleyball, basketball and handball. In addition, the hall will be used for training purposes, as well as for the organization of concerts and other artistic events.
