Modernization of the Bydgoszcz railway station

On 29 August 2014, three months after signing the contract, the cornerstone was laid for the new railway station in Bydgoszcz. The contractor for the investment, worth PLN 134 million net, is a consortium of Budimex (leader, 90 percent of shares) and the Bydgoszcz-based company Lech.

In the place of the old demolished station, a modern, five-storey (one underground storey) station building with a glass façade is being built. Currently, the foundation slab for the new station is being poured. Work on its construction began at the end of June this year.

Budimex’s tasks also include the renovation and revitalisation of the historic island station located between the platforms 3. and 4. This four-storey building was built in the mid-nineteenth century. Currently, demolition works inside the building are underway. After the renovation, the island station will regain its characteristic gable roof with clock turrets.

At the same time, renovation works are being carried out in the passenger tunnel, which will have a reinforced structure and replaced cladding panels. Platform 2 is being renovated. and adjacent tracks.

The works are proceeding according to plan. 150 – 200 people work on the construction site every day. Ultimately, the number of people working on the implementation of this investment will increase to approx. 500.

The new station in Bydgoszcz with the accompanying infrastructure will be ready in November 2015.
