From 24 October, drivers can use a new section of the S7 expressway between Modlin and Czosnów, almost 10 km long. The investment was carried out by Budimex SA in the “design and build” formula. The value of the contract amounted to approx. PLN 0.6 billion net, and the financing came from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 (FEnIKS).
The S7 expressway on this section (Modlin – Czosnów) has two carriageways, each of which has three lanes in each direction and emergency lanes. As part of the contract, Budimex, as a general contractor, has constructed, m.in, 13 engineering structures. New roads and connections for local traffic, viaducts and infrastructure along the road – including acoustic screens, pedestrian tunnels, bicycle paths and animal crossings – were built. Two existing road junctions were also expanded: Modlin and Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki. The bridge over the Vistula River in Zakroczym , rebuilt under the contract, has been adapted to the parameters of the expressway and equipped with a sidewalk in the direction of Warsaw and a bicycle path in the direction of Gdańsk.
“The construction of the S7 Modlin – Czosnów section is an important stage in the development of one of the key routes in Poland, which will significantly improve traffic between Warsaw and the northern part of the country. Our team consistently implemented the successive phases of the project, thanks to which the investment was completed as planned. With the commissioning of this section, not only the capacity on the route to Warsaw is visibly improved, but also the safety of travel – says Piotr Lewicki, Contract Director at Budimex SA.
The Modlin – Czosnów section is part of a larger investment task involving three contracts with a total length of approx. 35 km between Płońsk and Czosnów.
Ultimately, the S7 expressway north of Warsaw will provide a quick and comfortable connection between the capital and the Tri-City. After the Modlin-Czosnów section is made available, drivers gain access to 285 km of the expressway between Gdańsk and Warsaw.
Budimex is the largest road contractor in Poland – it is responsible for every fourth kilometre of newly built expressways on average. The company also plays a key role in the construction of national roads, being the main contractor under the Government National Road Construction Program and the 100 Bypass Construction Program, thus contributing to the modernization of the transport network in Poland. The company’s commitment and scale of operations place Budimex at the forefront of the most important construction companies in the country.
