After the demolition of all structures (14 in total), works related to strengthening the ground for new bridges and railway embankments will begin. Working platforms for piling rigs are already being built. Earthworks have also begun, i.e. demolition of existing embankments. The entire investment area has been checked by sappers, archaeological and environmental supervision is being carried out. Tree felling carps and humus are being removed from the construction site. The construction of access and technological roads is underway (a total of about 10 km of these roads will be built). The construction facilities of the contractor and the contract engineer have also already been organized.
The investment is being implemented in the “design and build” system. In parallel with the construction works, intensive design work is being carried out, which will allow for the implementation of the next stages of the investment.
A total of 16 railway viaducts, 7 road viaducts and one flyover in the area of the airport, 5 crossings over the tracks, footbridges, culverts and animal crossings will be built on a 17-kilometre section of the double-track railway line. The scope of the investment also includes the construction of 8 stops for passengers, the building of the Local Control Centre, a technical station for changing the direction of trains, as well as a 1.4-kilometre section of the single-track PKM connection with the railway line 201.
The Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway will improve regional rail transport. Gdańsk and Gdynia will be connected to the Gdańsk airport. In addition, Gdańsk will gain a connection with Kartuzy and Kościerzyna.
The contract with the Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway SA for the design and construction of the Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway in Gdańsk, worth PLN 582.2 million net, was signed on 7 May 2013. The works will last until the end of April 2015.
In the years 2007-2009, Budimex, in a consortium with Ferrovial Agroman, modernised the Gdynia Główna Osobowa railway station for PLN 146.1 million net.
Currently, Budimex is modernising a more than 50-kilometre section of railway tracks of line No. 9 managed by LCS Iława. The net value of the contract is almost PLN 698 million.
