In the People’s Park, which is being rebuilt by Budimex, 20 wooden birdhouses have been installed. The nesting boxes were handmade by children from the Siemacha Association, whose partner is the general contractor. Environmental protection is one of the pro-ecological activities that Budimex implements as part of its CSR strategy.
The end of renovation works on the reconstruction of the People’s Park in Lublin is approaching – in the last phase of the project, Budimex installed birdhouses on the trees. m.in will find shelter here. nuthatches, starlings, creepers,, woodpeckers, flycatchers and sparrows. The houses were made by young people from the Siemacha Association in Małopolska. Budimex is the patron of the carpentry workshop in this organisation.
– We are glad that Budimex supports the activities of our Association. At the same time, we are proud that our partner implements its investments with respect for the natural and social environment. We are glad that the boxes – a small accent of our cooperation – will go to a good place. The first houses were sent to Lublin – says Justyna Łukawska, Coordinator from the Association.
As part of the pro-ecological cooperation, a total of 50 nesting boxes will be created. 30 of them are houses for swifts – small and very useful birds that eat up to 3 thousand birds a day. Mosquitoes. The boxes will be installed in the spring on the façade of Budimex housing estates in Kraków and Wrocław.
The idea of installing birdhouses is one of the assumptions of the new “Budimex for nature” programme. The project assumes m.in. the use of renewable energy and CO2 reduction during the implementation of the investment.
– The construction sector is responsible for almost half of the world’s raw material extraction and for a third of global carbon dioxide emissions. The aim of our “Budimex for nature” project is to create a social plan combining CSR activities that are carried out to protect the environment and climate. In 2021-2022, we intend to focus strongly on solutions that will benefit nature and the environment – explains Cezary Mączka, Member of the Management Board of Budimex SA, Director of the Human Resources Management Division.
There are many benefits of the “Budimex for nature” project – not only environmental, but also developmental. Generating less waste, reducing CO2 emissions to the environment and exploiting the ecosystem is the direction in which the general contractor is heading. That is why solar panels are already being installed more and more often on Budimex construction sites to power the project’s facilities and individual raw materials, materials and products are reused for the implementation of subsequent projects.
