As part of the contract, Budimex carried out the modernization of the station in Czechowice-Dziedzice. It gained new, roofed platforms with equipment such as benches, clear markings and lighting, while maintaining the restored historic shelter moved to the end of one of the platforms. A new underground passage and elevators allow for easy and safe access to the platform. The aesthetics of the place was also taken care of. The passages under the tracks were covered with murals referring to the history of the railway and the city.

Part of the task was also the construction or reconstruction of 23 engineering structures, including 8 viaducts and 4 bridges, and the replacement of approx. 47 km of tracks and 56 km of overhead contact line. 3 rail-road crossings and platforms at the Czechowice-Dziedzice, Goczałkowice-Zdrój and Zabrzeg stations were modernized. A modern Local Control Center (LCS) was also created. All works were carried out under active rail traffic.

Thanks to the works carried out by Budimex related to the modernisation of the railway network, passenger cars will be able to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, and freight cars up to 120 km/h. The general contractor built four main tracks, four additional tracks and eight siding tracks, and the replacement of 119 turnouts ensures the smooth passage of trains through the stations and stops located on the section.
