Residents of Mierzyn and the surrounding area will gain a more efficient connection to the Western Bypass of Szczecin. Budimex has signed a contract for the construction of a city bypass, amounting to nearly 5 km of route along national road No. 10. The value of the contract is PLN 153.4 million gross, and drivers will use the new road in the first half of 2029.
On Thursday, 24 September 2026, Budimex SA signed a contract with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways Szczecin Branch for the construction of the Mierzyn bypass. The event was attended by Arkadiusz Marchewka, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure, and representatives of GDDKiA, the Municipality of Szczecin, the Municipality of Dobra and the Police District. The investment is being carried out for GDDKiA and the City of Szczecin and includes the construction of 4.77 km of the new route. Budimex will complete the task in the “build” formula within 22 months, excluding the winter periods from 16 December to 15 March.
“The Mierzyn bypass will be an important element of the new road system around the capital of the voivodeship, especially in the context of the Western Bypass of Szczecin, which is under construction. We are glad that our offer has been selected and we can start another investment that will really improve the travel conditions of the region’s residents. We have extensive experience in this type of investment and a team of specialists who have the competences necessary for the efficient implementation of the contract,” says Łukasz Janowski, Regional Director of Budimex SA.
The new bypass along the DK10 route will be built as a road with two carriageways and two lanes in each direction. The route will start in the area of Ku Słońcu Street in Szczecin, near the STER shopping centre, and then run towards Mierzyn and the Dołuje junction on the S6 expressway. As part of the investment, Budimex will also rebuild transverse roads, build service roads and infrastructure for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. New exits and a viaduct will also be built along the county road over the bypass.
The scope of the contract also includes the execution of the full technical infrastructure accompanying the new route. The contractor is responsible, m.in, for the construction of a rainwater sewerage system with retention tanks, ditches and drainage wells, as well as for lighting the route, intersections, transverse roads and pedestrian crossings. The electricity, teletechnical, water, gas and sewage networks interfering with the investment will be rebuilt.
With respect for nature in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship
The company, as one of the industry leaders in the implementation of investments with respect for the natural environment, has also taken care of these issues in its activities in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. As part of the construction of the bypass, animal crossings, noise protection, anti-glare screens and new greenery plantings will be built, among other m.in things.
New access to the Western Bypass of Szczecin
The current DK10 leads through the densely built-up Mierzyn, where traffic difficulties occur, especially during rush hours. The importance of this connection will increase after the launch of the Western Bypass of Szczecin, as DK10 will become one of the main routes leading from the new S6 towards the city. The new route of the road will allow to take over additional traffic, relieve the existing route through Mierzyn and ensure a more efficient connection of Szczecin with the expressway network.

In the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, the company is currently building, m.in, the Swedish and Rusinów bypasses along national road No. 22. In the Szczecin area, it is also implementing the Warzymice and Przecław bypasses and Kołbaskowo along the DK13 road, along with the road infrastructure on the border section of the A6 motorway. The company’s strong presence in West Pomerania is also confirmed by the construction of six out of eight sections of the S10 expressway between Szczecin and Piła.
