Budimex has won the contract for the construction of a new route of the I/43 road section near Černá Hora in the South Moravian region of the Czech Republic. In the new route, an additional slow lane and two bridge structures will be created, which will eliminate dangerous bends and improve safety on high-traffic roads. The implementation will begin in mid-September and will last approximately 11 months. Budimex won the tender, submitting a net bid of CZK 250.2 million.
Budimex has signed a contract with the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) for the construction of a new route of the I/43 road section near Černá Hora in the Blansko district. This is the second road contract acquired by the company since its entry into the Czech market.
“We are glad that we were able to offer not only the most competitive price, but also solutions that assume the shortest period of traffic restrictions. Apart from the quality and safety of investment implementation, one of our priorities is to minimise the impact of construction works on drivers ,” says Cezary Łysenko, Member of the Management Board of Budimex.
Budimex won the tender with a net bid of CZK 250.2 million, which is about 36 percent lower than the investor’s budget. In addition to submitting the lowest bid, the company also declared the shortest period of restriction of traffic on the road to one lane – only 14 days. Construction will begin in mid-September and will last about 11 months.
New route with additional lane for overtaking
The new section will be 2.06 kilometers long. It will start south of Černá Hora, behind the forest parking lot, and then turn east of the existing I/43 road. After crossing the Žerotínka stream, it will reconnect with the existing road on the Černá Hora bypass. The project also includes the construction of an additional 1.16-kilometer slow lane in the direction of Brno.
The contract also provides for the construction of two bridge structures over the Žerotínka stream, emergency bays and retaining walls, as well as the reconstruction of part of the stream bed. – Due to the proximity of the high-pressure gas pipeline, in some places it will be necessary to use special technical solutions. After the traffic is transferred to the new road, Budimex will also remove and rehabilitate a significant part of the original route ,” adds Petr Hrančík, Regional Director of Budimex in the Czech Republic.
The I/43 road is part of the international route E461 and is one of the roads with the highest traffic volume in the South Moravian Region. According to traffic measurements from 2020, about 15,000 vehicles pass through the section covered by the investment every day. Relocating the route will eliminate dangerous turns, make it easier to overtake slower vehicles and contribute to improving safety and traffic flow.
Established position on the Czech market
Currently, Budimex is also responsible for the construction of a 7.6-kilometre section of the D35 motorway between Džbánov and Litomyšl. It is also implementing the construction of a dry flood reservoir on the Krounka River in the village of Kutřín in the district of Chrudim.

We would like to gradually strengthen our position in the Czech Republic as well.
